Flowerpot Antenna Working Bee

On Saturday the 8th of February, club members were guided by John VK4IE to construct half-wave flower pot antennas suitable for use with 2m and 70cm transceivers.

These are especially useful for situations where you’re at the outer-edge of repeater range or looking for increased capability with handhelds during events such as WICEN activities.

Members self-allocated themselves various points of the construction process, and all the units were tested several times for SWR with great success.

At the time of writing there may be surplus units left over, available for purchase by club members. Or if you’re interested in making your own, visit this website by VK2ZOI.

If club members find this of interest, or they would like to offer a class, lecture or activity in a similar method – please mention this at a club meeting or chat with the club executive members.
